Let’s go hiking – Broken Road and Mam Tor!

Last weekend was a little more relaxed; I finally managed to meet up with two of my best friends Claire and Loz. Somewhere in discussions before the weekend, it was decided heading into the Peaks would be a lovely idea, I believe the word hike was used!

As per, I took it as my responsibility to plan the route. A light stroll up Broken Road in Castleton up onto Mam Tor and along the ridge and back down… Having decided this all in my head I may have failed to communicate to my two lovely friends the terrain and gradient we would be encountering and the dress code as a result…

To their credit, both are easily fit and game enough for this sort of thing regardless of attire, I just could have maybe pre-warned them! Sorry ladies!! Regardless it was a lovely day out with superb company and even gave me a chance to try out my new summer trainers – La Sportiva Helios (review coming soon).

Claire, Loz – it was so good to see you, I love you both dearly and promise next time to give an adequate briefing of all activities!
