Hathersage Gala Fell Race

Despite probably needing a rest day after a busy weekend I was far too tempted by Hathersage Gala Fell Race on Monday night! So after work I popped on my running kit and made my way to the Hathersage. The idea was to take the race gently using it more as a training run than competition as I was a little low on energy.

Mid way through the race

This in mind I got off to a good start arriving at the top of the ascent in relatively good shape. However my luck ended here as over the top of Higger Tor I slipped twisting my ankle. After the initial pain I was able to walk it off and took the rest of the race very carefully.

A few days along and despite a lot of rest I would certainly like it to be better than it is. I’m not very good at resting but have learnt from experience not to head straight back out and cause more problems. So for the next two weeks it looks like I am going to be taking things pretty gently which is really not what I wanted for ultra training. Luckily it seems fine on the bike so will keep the cardio up on that! Fingers crossed it will be mended in time for Lakes Sky Ultra Training Weekend…
